Harassment Policy - Opinion

It is stunning to think that a representative organization in this country could convince itself that it can, and should, increase its own authority over those it is supposed to represent without the consent of the same.

If I were a prospective buyer, I wouldn't set foot in the neighborhood based on this document alone.

Indeed, a few days ago I was contacted by the realtor who worked with us on the purchase of this house. She was searching the internet for information from a previous sale and ran across a YouTube video that had the "Harassment Policy" on it and reached out to me for more information.

I asked her what the potential impact on property values was and this was her reply...

It is not known to what degree this policy has been seen in the realtor community but, I'm told, this Board is known among area HOAs as being dysfunctional and there are vendors who have declined the opportunity to bid a contract once they found out who it was for.

Policies like this hurt resale value.

Overly strict DoRs hurt resale value.

HOA Boards with excessive power hurt resale value.

Changing ByLaws in closed meetings, ending paid-for services early out of

spite, boldly lying to the association or supporting those who do creates

discontent and a bad reputation, hurting resale value.

IT IS TIME TO STOP THE MADNESS AND ELECT A BoD THAT

IS SO TIED TO ITS DUTY TO THE ASSOCIATION THAT IT

CANNOT BRING ITSELF TO DO THESE THINGS.
